////// Groundbreaking Serbia
The most modern and largest production site of the Vorwerk & Sohn Group will create 1,000 new jobs in Serbia.
Ceremonial start of construction work in Cacak, Serbia: On 25 July 2018, the ceremony of the laying of the foundation stone for the new production site of the Vorwerk & Sohn Group took place in Cacak. Numerous guests from politics, business and the international workforce of the Vorwerk & Sohn Group celebrated the start of construction of the new production site.
Together with the Serbian president, Aleksandar Vucic, the Managing Director of Vorwerk & Sohn, Dr. Jürgen Möller, symbolically started the construction work by embedding a time capsule in the ground. The capsule contains a letter written by Vorwerk, which is intended to capture the zeitgeist for posterity. This is not only about the day of the ceremony, but rather about the basic values of the company and wishes that should come true for this location in the future.
The Managing Partner of the Vorwerk & Sohn Group, Peter Cöllen, recalls in his speech numerous groundbreaking ceremonies in the past. But the project in Serbia surpasses everything. He experienced the most efficient support that one could imagine as an investor and thus quickly gained confidence.
"The Vorwerk & Sohn Group, a company rich in tradition, stands for stability, continuity, but also adaptability, which gives me the courage to be successful even in difficult times in the automotive industry. A big surprise for me personally was that I was able to reach this area, this location, via a road that bears my name. I understand this as an honour for our very large and courageous investment, especially as a commitment and obligation, because we want to create a good, successful and sustainable future for more than 1,000 employees.
This is the latest Vorwerk project, built according to the high international standards of the Vorwerk & Sohn Group which will be further developed in the future. The Serbian plant, which consists of a production hall and a test centre, will employ a total of around 1,000 new employees and will be expanded in several stages over a period of five years.
"In addition to the work force at Vorwerk, the region will also benefit from many new indirect jobs, especially for existing companies. Furthermore, new Vorwerk suppliers will certainly settle in the years to come" says Dr. Jürgen Möller about the development potential in the Cacak region.
The improvement and expansion of further training programs is also planned. The possibility of dual training and contacts with the Serbian Chamber of Commerce will promote the development of professionals and young people.
