This material was developed in the late 1930ies and has primarily been used when sealing (thermal & acoustical) by foams is required. In the automotive industry, PU is often used for interior car components and isolation purposes. Vorwerk Autotec has recently implemented TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) for spring pads in order to meet the enhanced NVH requirements resulting from car electrification.
